Subject: NEW PAPER TIGER TV VIDEO ON CYBERSPACE ISSUES
The PAPER TIGER TV COLLECTIVE and the DEEP DISH SATELLITE TV
NETWORK present a new video on cyberspace issues and the NII
------------------------------------------------------------
NETROOTS; CULTIVATING THE DIGITAL PARK (30 min. video)
Paper Tiger TV returns to the issues surrounding the growth
of new communication and information technologies. New
computer networks and information resources are sprouting up
around the globe as new users continue to redefine and
cultivate the communications landscape. Schools, community
groups, local governments and individuals are creating
digital gardens where we all can sow the seeds of our
communications future. This program highlights these
visionary models which are working to extend the public
sphere into the new information environment in ways that
encourage participation, foster growth and guarantee equal
access. This show also examines how the paths connecting our
new digital gardens must be protected from the gates of
private interest by a public policy that both protects and
nurtures the nature of public communications. The show
features, among others, James Love (TAP), Andrew Schwartman
Media Access Project), Antonia Stone (founder of Playing to
Win), Lauren Glenn Davitian (Chittenden Community TV),
Martha Wallner (Assoc, of Indep. Video and Filmmakers), and
Ralph Nadar.
THREE WAYS TO GET THE SHOW INTO YOUR COMMUNITY:

We encourage community organizers to use to these programs
to increase local awareness on public interest issues
concerning the NII and other aspects of telecommunications.
Legislative bills have already been introduced into the
House and Senate that will drastically effect the
communications future of all Americans. We must get our
local communities involved, the decision making process must
be made public!

Satellite Network, this video presents the voices and ideas
of media advocates and community organizers working to
ensure that the information highway is accessible and
functional for all people.

corporate underwriting are addressed.
------------------------------------------------------------
Paper Tiger TV is a non-profit, volunteer operated, video
collective based in New York City. For over a decade Paper
Tiger Television has worked for greater democratization of
the communications industry.
Paper Tiger programs are cable-cast on Manhattan's public
access, channels designated for community use, non-
commercial and censorship free. Paper Tiger's collection of
over 225 titles are also used by libraries, universities and
community organizations to illuminate the media's role in
our society. Many programs examine a particular aspect of
the communications industry, from print media to TV and
movies, looking at its impact on public perception and
cultural life. Other videos represent the people and views
which are largely absent from the mainstream media.
Featuring scholars, activists and stand-up theoreticians,
these tapes are informational media critiques and offer a
creatively low-tech alternative to standard TV fare.
